And now the citizens of Mayfield, Graves County and the Purchase area will have one more team to cheer to victory during basketball season the Mid-Continent University Cougars. MCU basketball officially started this summer with the introduction of the new mens basketball head coach Hershell Spears. Try-outs for the team were held June 4 at the Jetton Gym in Paducah. Since then, more than 30 students have signed to play for the Cougars this season. "This is going to be an exciting year," said Coach Spears. "With a new team and new coaches, our immediate goal is to go into every game as prepared as we can. Our long-term goal is to be a team that will represent Jesus in a positive way to the community. And I personally want to help every player develop spiritual growth." I t is
