Overview The Pediatric Dentistry section offers: · School of Dentistry based predoctoral education to dental and dental hygiene students. · Didactic, clinical and research education of graduate students based at the dental school, the University of Michigan Hospital and the Mott Childrens Health Center (MCHC) in Flint. · Well-recognized clinical and basic research activities. B. Predoctoral and Dental Hygiene Courses The predoctoral pediatric dental training includes clinic rotations for dental hygiene, dental and international dental students. These rotations are established to provide learning experience in managing patients needing first visit examination, recall examination, pediatric dental restorations, infant oral health, space management and emergency care. There are 4 pediatric dental didactic courses built into predoctoral curriculum to supplement the clinical experiences as follows: Two introductory courses inclusive of small group laboratory exercises and hands on utilization of N2O inhalation.
