Fifth Avenue Suite 2700 PORTLAND, OREGON 97201 December 4, 2006 The 18th Annual Origami Workshop About 400 participants of all ages enjoyed learning the Japanese art of paper folding at the 18th Annual Origami Workshop, sponsored by the Consulate-General of Japan in Portland, which was held on Sunday, December 3, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at the World Trade Center in Portland. Thirty-one volunteers who were students of local high schools and universities and interested people in the local community took part in the Origami Workshop as instructors. They demonstrated the folding of 15 different figures such as airplane, bookmark, candle, crane, etc. The Consulate-General of Japan in Portland sponsors this Origami Workshop annually as a way of providing an opportunity for the public to learn more about the Japanese culture. The JapanAmerica Society of Oregon, Portland General Electric and the World Trade Center also support the workshop.
