It provides information on a type of internship opportunity, which, the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service (BCIS) calls "Curricular Practical Training" (CPT). Definition of Curricular Practical Training Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a type of work permission that allows students to accept employment in a students major field of study as part of a co-curricular experience. BCIS states that participation may be authorized as part of an established curriculum through internship or practicum. To participate, the department (of the students degree major) must list the training opportunity in the course catalog. Conditions To be considered for curricular practical training, the work must not only be related to the students major field of study but also must be either required or an integral part of the studies.
